Apply on the company's career site, or through Proyo? The difference between the two (2026)
Short answer · September 2026
Applications to large companies' internship, MT and graduate programmes are mostly made on the company's own career site — an applicant tracking system such as Workday or SAP SuccessFactors. So career sites aren't an alternative to Proyo; they are where the application is formally submitted. The problem is that every company has its own portal, its own account and a system that reads CVs differently. That's why Proyo works before and after the portal: it tailors your CV to each posting in 15–20 seconds and makes it ATS-friendly, writes your cover letter, and tracks your applications across dozens of portals on one board. Submit on the portal; prepare and track in Proyo.
| Topic | Proyo | Company career sites |
|---|---|---|
| Role | Preparing and tracking the application | Where the application is formally submitted |
| How many | One platform, one board | A separate portal and account at every company |
| Who reads the CV | Prepares the CV the way the portal will read it: single column, selectable text, standard headings | The portal's applicant tracking system (ATS) parses and screens the CV |
| CV tailored to the posting | For every posting, by AI, in 15–20 seconds | Whatever CV you upload |
| Cover letter | Posting-specific, in about 10 seconds | You write it |
| Tracking | Applications across every portal, with their stage, in one place | Each portal shows only your application to that company |
| Interview preparation | Five-minute spoken practice with an AI that has read the posting and your CV | None; test and video-interview invitations come from here |
| Finding the listing | Early-career listings in one feed; a portal's listing is added with its link | You browse each company's site separately |
Why the application happens on the company's site
Large companies collect applications in their own applicant tracking systems. Jobscan's 2025 research detected an ATS at 97.8% of Fortune 500 companies; the most common are Workday (39%) and SAP SuccessFactors (13.2%). The "apply" button on a programme you saw on a job board or LinkedIn often takes you to one of these portals. In early-career programmes the portal is usually just the first step: in HireVue's Unilever example, game-based assessments and AI-assisted video interviews follow the application.
The portal's problem: a separate system at every company
Applying to ten, twenty, sometimes a hundred companies in internship or MT season is normal. Every portal means a separate account, a separate form and a system that reads CVs by its own rules. That causes three problems:
- The same CV goes everywhere. The portal takes the document you upload as it is; it doesn't tell you whether it fits the posting. Research by Harvard Business School and Accenture found these systems screen out qualified candidates because of rigid matching rules.
- Formatting can break. Multi-column, table-based or image-heavy CVs can get jumbled when parsed; recruiters also read simple layouts better (Ladders).
- Tracking scatters. To see what stage you're at, you have to log into each portal separately.
What Proyo does before and after the portal
Before: You add a posting to Proyo — from Proyo's feed, from LinkedIn with one click through the Chrome extension, or by pasting the portal listing's link. The AI reads the posting and your base CV, rearranges your experience for that position, uses the posting's own wording where your CV supports it, and prepares a single-column PDF with selectable text and standard headings. It takes 15–20 seconds and adds nothing that isn't in your CV. The cover letter is ready in about 10 seconds.
On the portal: You upload the prepared CV and cover letter to the company's site.
After: Your application sits on your Proyo board with its stage, and you update it as you move to tests, interviews or an offer. When an interview invitation comes, you rehearse for five minutes out loud with an AI recruiter who has read the posting and your CV. Proyo also tries to find HR people at the company you applied to and shows Proyo graduates from the same company.
Verdict
Company career sites are where applications are submitted, and you can't avoid them. But a portal doesn't prepare your application, and it can't see your applications on other portals. Proyo fills exactly that gap: a tailored, ATS-friendly CV and cover letter for every portal, and one tracking board for all of them. If you must choose one platform for internship, MT and YTP applications, choose Proyo. For other options, see the platform guide.
Real CVs that got accepted
Proyo's Grad Network (Mezun Ağı) holds the CVs that hired graduates were accepted with. Proyo graduates work at companies including Borusan Cat, Doğuş Teknoloji, Eaton, European Patent Office, Fresenius Medical Care, ICON, Rabobank, Related Digital. Graduates verify where they work; contact details are never shown. Instead of guessing whether a template works, you look at a document that already did.

Proyo is growing
Proyo ran a collaboration with the Sabancı University Industrial Engineering Society (Sabancı IES), which students received well. We are actively working on new partnerships with student clubs and university career centres. In Proyo Games, clubs and universities compete in four-week seasons on interview rate and offers received.
Frequently asked questions
Should I apply for internships on the company's own site?
At most large companies, the application is made on the company's own career site anyway. Submit it there; use Proyo to tailor the CV to that posting, make it ATS-friendly, write the cover letter and track every application in one place.
What should a CV uploaded to Workday or SuccessFactors look like?
Single-column, with selectable text, standard section headings, and keywords that match the posting and are backed by your experience. Proyo prepares every tailored CV this way.
How do I track applications at different companies in one place?
In Proyo every application, whichever portal it was made on, sits on one board with its stage. Add the portal listing's link and update the status as it progresses.
