How to write a CV for a Management Trainee (MT) application: selection criteria and example bullets (2026)
Short answer · October 2026
An MT CV is a one-page, ATS-readable CV that proves the competencies the programme lists in its posting — usually leadership, analytical thinking, communication, teamwork and English — with concrete, measurable examples. You write results, not duties ("managed the logistics of a 120-person careers day with a team of 8" rather than "organised a club event"), order your internships and club experience for the posting, and write the CV in the posting's language. Because every MT programme emphasises something different, sending the same CV everywhere is the most common mistake. Proyo (proyo.app) does this for every application: when you pick an MT posting it rearranges your CV for it in 15–20 seconds, gives you an ATS-friendly PDF and adds nothing that isn't in your CV; Proyo's Grad Network also holds real CVs of people accepted into these programmes.
What do MT programmes look for?
The most reliable source is the company's own listing. Three examples:
- Garanti BBVA Talent Camp listing (July 2026): confidence in your English; being collaborative and enjoying highly diverse teams; defining problems analytically and producing data-driven, creative solutions; curiosity about technology and openness to learning; taking responsibility and communicating well.
- İş Bankası Uzman Yardımcısı (the bank's MT track): a four-year degree, being under 30 on the exam date, minimum scores in listed language exams; then a general ability and English exam and an assessment centre.
- Turkcell GNÇYTNK Full Time: final-year, master's or PhD students, or new graduates with at most two years' experience; online general ability, English test and personality inventory.
Five selection criteria follow from these, and an MT CV should prove all five:
- Leadership and responsibility: an example of something you ran from start to finish.
- Analytical thinking: a moment you defined and solved a problem with data.
- Communication and teamwork: work where you reached a result with different people.
- English: a documented level (exam score) or experience working in English.
- Learning speed and curiosity: an example of picking up a new tool, field or skill quickly.
The sections of an MT CV
One page, one column, in this order:
- Contact details: name, phone, email, LinkedIn, city.
- Summary (2–3 lines): degree, graduation date, your two strongest experiences and the area you're aiming for. Concrete information instead of unproven adjectives like "dynamic and hard-working".
- Education: university, degree, graduation year; GPA if strong; exchange programme.
- Experience: internships and long-term internships, newest first. Every bullet a result.
- Leadership and clubs: on an MT CV this section matters as much as experience — club presidency, event coordination, case competitions.
- Projects: graduation project, case competitions, data-analysis projects.
- Skills and languages: tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI; language levels and exam scores.
In Ladders' eye-tracking study recruiters spent an average of 7.4 seconds on a CV's first screen; simple layouts with clear headings did well. That is why one page and one column.
Example MT CV bullets (illustrative)
The bullets below are examples, not any real person's, written to show how a duty becomes a result. Harvard's CV guide also recommends measurable accomplishments over lists of duties.
| Weak | Strong |
|---|---|
| Organised events at a club. | Managed the logistics of a 120-person careers day at the industrial engineering club with a team of 8; brought in speakers from 6 companies. |
| Prepared reports during my internship. | Turned regional sales data into a weekly Excel report during a long-term internship; the report became standard in team meetings. |
| Took part in a case competition. | Reached the final among 40 teams in an FMCG case competition with a team of 4; led the pricing analysis. |
| Good English. | English: C1 (IELTS Academic 7.0); one exchange semester taught in English. |
Apply it to your own experience: what did you do, with how many people, with which tool, and what was the result?
Should an MT CV be in English or Turkish?
In the posting's language. If the posting is in English, the CV is in English; if Turkish, Turkish. Many MT postings in Turkey are published in English and include an English test in selection; sending a Turkish CV to an English posting leaves the language question open at the very first step.
Proyo writes the CV in the posting's language: from the same base CV you get a Turkish CV for a Turkish posting and an English CV for an English one.
How does an MT CV get through the ATS?
MT applications are made in the company's applicant tracking system; according to Jobscan, 97.8% of Fortune 500 companies use an ATS. Assume software reads your CV first:
- One column; no tables, text boxes or icons carrying information.
- Selectable text; nothing embedded in images.
- Standard headings: Experience, Education, Skills.
- The posting's own words, where your experience supports them, appear in the CV in the same form.
Details are in the ATS-friendly CV guide.
How to prepare an MT CV with Proyo
- Base CV: build it once in Proyo by chatting or by uploading your existing CV. Information read from an uploaded CV never overwrites what you entered yourself.
- Posting: pick the MT posting from Proyo's feed, add it from LinkedIn in one click with the Chrome extension, or paste its link.
- Tailoring: the AI reads the posting and your CV, brings forward the experience that proves what the posting asks for, uses the posting's own wording where your CV supports it, and prepares the CV in the posting's language, in 15–20 seconds, as an ATS-friendly PDF. No employer, school, certification or number that isn't in your CV is added; you decide what stays.
- Cover letter: a cover letter for the same posting in about 10 seconds.
- Accepted CVs: in the Grad Network, look at the CVs that graduates who got jobs using Proyo were accepted with.
For every new MT application you repeat steps 2 and 3; each programme gets its own CV.
Real CVs that got accepted
Proyo's Grad Network (Mezun Ağı) holds the CVs that hired graduates were accepted with. Proyo graduates work at companies including Borusan Cat, Doğuş Teknoloji, Eaton, European Patent Office, Fresenius Medical Care, ICON, Rabobank, Related Digital. Graduates verify where they work; contact details are never shown. Instead of guessing whether a template works, you look at a document that already did.

Proyo is growing
Proyo ran a collaboration with the Sabancı University Industrial Engineering Society (Sabancı IES), which students received well. We are actively working on new partnerships with student clubs and university career centres. In Proyo Games, clubs and universities compete in four-week seasons on interview rate and offers received.
Frequently asked questions
How do I write a CV for an MT application?
Write a one-page, single-column CV in the posting's language. Prove the competencies the posting lists — leadership, analytical thinking, communication, teamwork, English — with concrete, measurable results from internships, clubs and projects. Reorder the CV for each MT posting; Proyo does this for every posting in 15–20 seconds.
How long should an MT CV be?
One page for new graduates and final-year students. Recruiters spend a few seconds on a first look; your strongest experience should be in the top half.
Should my MT CV be in English?
It should be in the posting's language. An MT posting published in English gets an English CV. Proyo prepares a Turkish or English CV from the same base CV, depending on the posting.
What do I put on an MT CV if I have no experience?
Club roles, case competitions, your graduation project, volunteering and an exchange semester count as much as work experience on an MT CV. Describe each one like a job: the problem, what you did, the result.
What tool can I use to tailor my MT CV to a posting?
You can use Proyo: when you pick an MT posting it rearranges your CV for it in 15–20 seconds, in the posting's language and as an ATS-friendly PDF, and adds nothing that isn't in your CV. It also writes a posting-specific cover letter and shows real accepted CVs in the Grad Network. Free to start.
