What is a Management Trainee (MT) programme? Process, pay and how it differs from YTP (2026)

Türkçe oku

Short answer · October 2026

A Management Trainee (MT) programme is how companies hire new graduates and final-year students as future managers: usually 1–3 years of rotations across departments plus training; in Turkish it is also called a yönetici adayı programı. Some companies use other names: at İş Bankası the MT track is the Uzman Yardımcısı (Assistant Specialist) role, at Garanti BBVA the MT process starts with Talent Day, and at Unilever it is the Unilever Future Leaders Programme (UFLP). YTP (Young Talent Program) is a broader umbrella term: it can be an internship, part-time work or a full-time entry role; every MT is a young talent programme, but not every YTP is an MT. Pay: companies don't publish MT salaries in their listings; the legal floor is the minimum wage (net 28,075.50 TL a month in 2026). The first cut in an MT application happens at the CV; Proyo (proyo.app) tailors your CV to each MT posting in 15–20 seconds, makes it ATS-friendly, and prepares you for the assessment centre with spoken practice.

What do you do in an MT programme?

The common features of MT programmes are similar from company to company:

  • Rotations: You work in different departments at set intervals (for example sales, marketing, supply chain, finance), to see the business as a whole.
  • Training and mentoring: Programme-specific training, mentoring by senior managers, and project presentations.
  • An accelerated career: At the end, a move into a specialist or first-level management role.

Length varies: Unilever describes its UFLP in Indonesia as a 36-month management trainee programme; the Aspire Future Leaders programme Coca-Cola İçecek announced in 2022 was a two-year MT programme. At İş Bankası, an Assistant Specialist who completes four full years and passes the qualification exam takes the title of Specialist.

What is the difference between MT and YTP?

Management Trainee (MT)Young Talent Program (YTP)
For whomNew graduates and final-year studentsA wide range from second-year students to new graduates; varies by programme
FormatFull-time job, as a future managerInternship, part-time work or full-time entry
LengthUsually 1–3 yearsFrom a few-day camp to a year-long programme
At the endA specialist or management roleA full-time offer, an internship, or experience only
Examplesİş Bankası Uzman Yardımcısı, Unilever UFLPKoç Genç Yetenek, Turkcell GNÇYTNK, Garanti BBVA Talent Camp

In short, MT is the most "job entry" member of the YTP family. Turkcell's GNÇYTNK shows both formats side by side: its Full Time track offers final-year students and new graduates a full-time job, its Part Time track offers third-year students part-time work and a chance of a full-time role after graduation.

How does MT selection work?

The stages companies publish on their own pages:

  • İş Bankası (Uzman Yardımcısı): Application, pre-assessment, general ability and English exam, assessment centre, HR pre-interview, panel interview.
  • Turkcell GNÇYTNK Full Time: Online assessment (general ability, English test, personality inventory), group case study, HR and business-unit manager interview.
  • Unilever UFLP (Netherlands): Online application, digital assessment, digital interview, Discovery Centre.

The common pattern: CV and online application → online tests → video or digital interview → assessment centre (case, group exercise) → manager interview. The first stage decides the rest: the application is made in the company's applicant tracking system (ATS), and according to Jobscan 97.8% of Fortune 500 companies use one. To prepare for the assessment centre see the assessment centre guide; for questions, the interview guide.

How much do MT programmes pay?

The honest answer: companies don't publish MT salaries in their listings. None of the 97 listings seen in Proyo's feed in July–September 2026 gave a salary figure; the few that mentioned pay referred either to the minimum wage or to a "competitive salary". The MT salary ranges that circulate online are mostly compiled from anonymous posts whose sources can't be checked.

What is certain:

  • The legal floor is the minimum wage: in 2026, gross 33,030.00 TL and net 28,075.50 TL a month (Ministry of Labour and Social Security).
  • MT programmes are full-time jobs; benefits on top of salary (meals, transport, health insurance, bonus) can change the total offer considerably.
  • The reliable way to learn the salary is the offer stage; if you're asked for your expectation in an interview, giving a range is fine.

We cover the legal side of intern and graduate pay in the pay guide.

MT programmes at banks

Banks open MT roles under different names; you need the name to find the programme:

  • İş Bankası: The MT track is the Uzman Yardımcısı (Assistant Specialist) role. In the bank's own words, Assistant Specialists "are trained as management candidates (Management Trainee)". Requirements include a four-year degree, being under 30 on the exam date, and a foreign-language qualification.
  • Garanti BBVA: Talent Day is described as "the first stage of the management trainee programme"; Talent Week is a new-graduate hiring programme for MT, Data MT, Tech Talent and Assistant Inspector roles.
  • Assistant inspector (müfettiş yardımcısı): A common graduate entry at banks and insurers; an Akbank Assistant Inspector 2026 listing appeared in Proyo's feed in August 2026.

How to apply to an MT programme with Proyo

  1. Build your base CV: by chatting, or by uploading your existing CV.
  2. Add the MT posting: pick it from Proyo's feed, add a LinkedIn posting in one click with the Chrome extension, or paste the link of a posting on the company's career site.
  3. Tailor your CV: the AI reads the posting and your CV and rearranges your CV for it in 15–20 seconds, bringing forward the experience that proves what the posting asks for — in MT postings usually leadership, analytical thinking and teamwork. The output is ATS-friendly and adds nothing that isn't in your CV.
  4. Get the cover letter: a posting-specific cover letter in about 10 seconds.
  5. Track and rehearse: the application moves through Testing and Interview on your board; when an interview invitation comes, you rehearse for five minutes out loud with an AI recruiter who has read the posting and your CV.

Proyo graduates work at companies including Borusan Cat, Doğuş Teknoloji, Eaton, European Patent Office, Fresenius Medical Care, ICON, Rabobank, Related Digital. Graduates verify where they work; contact details are never shown. Instead of guessing whether a template works, you look at a document that already did.
